In November 1899, Marion Sticht hammered the very last dog spike into the line at Regatta Point Station, marking the opening of the line between Teepookana and Regatta Point Station. Help us celebrate this milestone achievement of innovation and perseverance by designing a lapel pin.
CHILD COMPETITION
Entry is only available to residents of Australia aged under 18 years.
The entrant is expected to have an established connection with WCWR.
Additional permission will be required from a parent or guardian. Entrants must be a resident of Australia.
Immediate family of the judging panel may not enter.
ADULT COMPETITION
Entry is only available to residents of Australia and must be over the age of 18.
The entrant is expected to have an established connection with WCWR, either as a previous passenger or local resident, current local West Coast resident, current or former employee of WCWR or former employee of Mt Lyell Mining and Railway Corporation.
Immediate family of the judging panel may not enter.
An independent panel of judges will select one winning entrant from each category. The winning entrants will have their designs fabricated into collectable lapel pins, which will be available for sale during WCWR’s month-long 125th celebrations.
Entrants are encouraged to be creative and ensure that their pin designs reflect the values and history of WCWR. The pin design entry must measure no larger than 250mm wide by 250mm high and be made available in black and white. The design must celebrate the 125 years of rail heritage between Teepookana and Regatta Point.
The design should be accompanied by a written submission of up to 150 words detailing what connection the designer has with WCWR and/or Mt Lyell Mining and Railway Company and how the pin design celebrates 125 years of rail heritage between Teepookana and Regatta Point.
The pin will be fabricated in metal and small details/fine lines may not be transferrable to the physical design. Please keep this in mind while designing your pin.
Designs to be submitted by Friday 20th September and winners announced Friday 4th October. One winner from each age group will be identified.
