No. 4 was a disappointment to many and was widely recognised as being completely unreliable. She even managed to break down on her first run! After years of frustration and fury Loco #4 ceased operation shortly after 1960, It was dismantled and used for parts, some of which are still operating in our other locos today. It’s boiler was also recycled, sent to the West Lyell Open Cut and used now to run a heating plant. What was left, including the cylinders and chassis were scrapped in 1963 and today lies unceremoniously at the bottom of a local gully.
